Serving North Carolina
Connected to Savannah by Road and Rail
North Carolina freight does not stay in North Carolina. In 2022 the Georgia Ports Authority used CSX's Carolina Connector in Rocky Mount as a pop-up container yard for Savannah imports, and carriers move Savannah boxes to Charlotte and the Triangle every day.
Charlotte is about 250 miles from our Port Wentworth shop via I-95, I-26, and I-77, and Wilmington is about 300 miles. Units that run those lanes can be bought, leased, inspected, and repaired here.

Know the Rules
North Carolina Rules Worth Knowing
Commercial vehicle enforcement in North Carolina is handled by State Highway Patrol troopers, including the state's permanent weigh stations. Since July 1, 2025, the Highway Patrol has been its own cabinet-level department.
NCDOT's annual permit for sealed ship containers moving to or from a seaport allows up to 90,000 pounds with a minimum 51 foot wheelbase on five to seven axles. Heavier moves need route-specific permits, and terms can change, so confirm with NCDOT.
The annual inspection is a federal requirement for every chassis and trailer in interstate service. We inspect units at our Port Wentworth shop and keep the paperwork straight.
This is general information, not legal advice. Check the current rules with the state agency before you haul.
