Serving South Carolina
For Carriers Who Run Both Ports
Plenty of South Carolina carriers haul both Charleston and Savannah. When their units are on the Georgia side, they use our Port Wentworth shop for annual inspections and repairs, and to buy or lease chassis and trailers.
Charleston is about 105 miles from our shop via I-95 and US-17. The Port of Charleston's container terminals include Wando Welch in Mount Pleasant and North Charleston.
How We Support South Carolina Carriers
Schedule inspections and repairs for the days your units are in the Savannah area, and ask about the right chassis for heavy 20 foot containers under South Carolina rules.

Know the Rules
South Carolina Container Rules
South Carolina's State Transport Police is the state's law enforcement agency for commercial vehicle rules, at scale houses and at roadside.
SCDOT's annual permit for international shipping containers allows up to 90,000 pounds on US, SC, and interstate routes unless posted, and up to 100,000 pounds only on its overweight truck route map.
Chassis choice matters here. SCDOT guidelines cap a 20 foot container on a 20 foot chassis at 40,000 pounds per tandem, and heavier 20 foot boxes must be center mounted on a chassis of at least 40 feet.
